What was the most memorable moment of your day?
There was a 15-20 minute period between when we finished our pictures until we were announced at dinner. We found a couple of extra chairs set back away from everyone by the catering tent, and just sat together. The whole night went by so quickly, it was nice to have that time for just the two of us.
Any advice for future Bride/Grooms?
Hire a great team of vendors, and plan as much as possible ahead of time. We asked around to friends and family for people they knew or worked with in the past. Even though some of the referrals weren’t available, they were able to point us in the direction of other great industry experts. We ended up with an amazing team of professionals who, for the most part, had all worked together in the past. The week of the wedding, we felt really good about handing everything Kaci, our wonderful day-of coordinator. We were both surprised by how relaxed we felt the day of the wedding. Michael golfed with his grooms men, and I was able to relax and spend the morning with my bridal party. We knew that we had done everything we could to keep any last minute issues from popping up, and that if anything did happen, our dream team had it handled.
Most Funny memory from your wedding day?
At the beginning of our ceremony, both sets of parents were asked to stand, and give their blessing for our marriage. When Michael’s parents stood up, so did his grandpa while audibly whispering: “Why are we standing?!”
If you could do it all over again would you change anything?
We wouldn’t change a thing! There were definitely moments during the planning process that we looked at each other and said “we should just elope,” but after seeing it all come together and feeling the love of all of our friends and family that day, it was more than worth it! We would have loved to figure out a way to make the night longer! Everyone told us the day would fly by, but we had no idea just how fast it would!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Hawaii! Initially, we felt so overwhelmed with planning the wedding that we decided to put of our honeymoon for a couple of months. As things started to come together, we both were feeling bummed that we didn’t have a trip planned, so Michael surprised me with a trip to Oahu the week before the wedding. We flew into Honolulu, and spent two days in Waikiki. Then we rented a car and spent the rest of the week on the North Shore, which is a lot more relaxed than the city. It was really fun to get to experience both sides of the island, each with their own distinct culture. We hiked Diamond Head, swam in a waterfall, SUPed down a river and watched a lot of surfing. It was the perfect way to spend our first week as husband and wife together.
