My wonderful husband Nicholas planned a trip to Frankenmuth for the 4th of July. The past 2 years we have gone camping on the 4th, but since it didn’t fall on a weekend this year we decided to pack up and go to Frankenmuth for the night! We stopped at The Exit Restaurant for dinner before the Frankenmuth Volksläufe Fireworks at Heritage park. There was so many more people than we expected but we picked a spot to lay our blanket and sat to watch the show. I might add that I saw a shooting star, first one in years! After the fireworks the traffic was crazy as expected so we stopped into Lorelei Lounge (& yes we mostly went there because I used to LOVE Gilmore Girls.) to watch some “live entertainment” which ended up being a little less than entertaining haha.
My favorite thing about Frankenmuth is that there is so much to do! We saw a Titanic exhibit at the Historical Museum, went to Fudge & Candy stores, met Herman the German, saw the cutest couple dancing even though it was 100 degrees out, went on a river boat tour, and my favorite part was eating at The Bavarian Inn Family Crest Room and sitting under the Hecht Family Crest.

On our way out of town we stopped at The Hart One Room School. When we were in the Frankenmuth Museum they had a photo of all of the students out front, it was in use from 1860-1921. I love thinking about all of the history this place has, and that it is still standing today to be remembered. (excuse my hair, it was 100 degrees so there was no hope for it!)

So that was what we did for the 4th, I’d love to hear how you spent yours! I’m guessing everyone was by some sort of lake with this heat!
